April 2, 2006 - Sunday - The Leaning Tower of Pisa. Pisa itself is a large city, on par with Florence. Taking the train was fun, and it only takes one hour each way from/to Florence.
Although we start out with eight people going to Pisa, we end up with 4 actually paying the €15 admission to go up the tower. One of our party only makes it up to the first landing before having to turn around since he has difficulty walking. He considers that a success, since he always wanted to experience the tower in person. Three of us are left to climb the 364 spiral stairs to the top. The two others with me were a bit squeamish at the top, but I was fine and take lots of photos. We take photos of Ralph (our tour leader) on the ground, and he takes photos of us looking up.
